Lac la Biche (Notre Dame des Victoires)

 -  1893 -1898

Religious Entity: Catholic

The Lac La Biche Mission operated a continuous day/boarding school from 1862 -1969. In 1877, federal funding was provided for a new school and in 1893, the school was officially designated an Indian Residential School (IRS) under the name Notre Dame des Victoires. Between 1893 -1898, it served as both an IRS and a community day school. Francophone and Metis students made up the majority of the student population. By 1898 the Mission school was no longer designated a residential school and Indigenous students were moved to the Sacred Heart Indian Residential School in Saddle Lake.
