In the summer of 1959, the Federal Government operated a temporary school at the mouth of the Koruk River in Quebec. During the summer of 1960 the government ran a school and hostel at the site. The children and staff lived in tents at the site, while the community hall served as classroom and dining hall. Although the school continued after 1960, the government decided not to run the hostel after this one summer.
