In 1960 the federal government opened two hostels in Fort Simpson, Bompas and LaPointe Halls. Students staying in the hostels attended the local day school. Throughout its history, enrollment at Bompas Hall was chronically low and had to be shored up by transferring students from other residences. The administration of Bompas Hall was transferred to the Territorial government in 1969, although the Anglican Church continued to operate the facility. The residence was closed from June 1972 to September 1973. In 1974, the Koe Go Cho society assumed responsibility for the operation of the school.
