Truths from the Survivors Circle

“I encourage women worldwide to recognize the inherent power they hold as matriarchs…. On this day, assume your rightful place in society and celebrate your strengths.” – Elder Florence Paynter

Read about some of the inspiring women at the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and the amazing work they do to support reconciliation in the Winnipeg Free Press’ International Women’s Day magazine!

We celebrate all our First Nation, Métis, Inuit and 2S mothers, daughters, aunties, sisters and grandmothers who have, and continue to, inspire change. Today is a reminder of their accomplishments but also the challenges that are still facing women today and the importance of standing up for equality and inclusion for all women.
