Imagine a Canada Arrives at Airports
The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation (NCTR) at the University of Manitoba is displaying more than 450 submissions from the 2018 Imagine a Canada program in airports across the country.
Imagine a Canada, an art and leadership program coordinated by NCTR, asks students across Canada to share their vision of the country’s future through the lens of Reconciliation.
Thirteen honourees for the 2018 Imagine a Canada were recognized at the national ceremony in June 2018. Through the airport displays, NCTR is able to share all the 2018 art submissions received from across the country.
All the pieces submitted to the NCTR for Imagine a Canada represent each student’s journey of understanding and learning to making a difference in Canadian society.
“The vision of Canada presented by the young people featured in this display gives us a powerful window to the future they want to see – a world based on respect, mutual recognition and revitalized Indigenous languages, cultures and identities,” says Ry Moran, Director of NCTR. “Realizing this vision demands our attention. It is our collective responsibility to ensure young people have the opportunity to realize their dreams of a better, healthier country.”
Imagine a Canada displays will begin to appear in airports soon, and two have already begun showcasing the visionary works: Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, and Charlottetown Airport.
2019 Imagine a Canada is currently open for submissions.
